Use Backlogs
Use the backlog to hold work that is not yet active on the board.
The backlog keeps future work visible without crowding the active board columns.
What Appears In Backlogs
Tasks with Backlogs status should appear in the backlog section. Tasks can also appear by sprint grouping when the board supports sprint planning.
All Active
Use All Active when you want to include active non-terminal tasks in the backlog view, while still excluding Done or terminated tasks.
All
Use All when you want to include every task that matches the board rules, including completed or terminal tasks.
Current Sprint Position
Use the current sprint control to quickly return to the active sprint section when the backlog list is long.
Best practices
- Keep backlog work ordered by priority or planning value.
- Review old backlog tasks before each planning cycle.
- Move work out of the backlog only when the team is ready to start or plan it.
Common mistakes
- Using the backlog as a place for abandoned tasks.
- Moving active work back to backlog without explaining why.
