Plan and Run Sprints
Use sprints to plan a fixed set of tasks for a delivery period.
A sprint is a short delivery window where a team commits to a selected set of work.
Create A Sprint
Create a sprint from the board backlog or sprint controls. Give it a clear name and date range so the team knows the planning period.
Start A Sprint
Start a sprint when the team is ready to begin. Only one sprint should be active at a time for the same board context.
Complete A Sprint
Complete the sprint when the planned period ends. Review unfinished tasks and decide whether to move them to another sprint or back to the backlog.
If Another Sprint Is Active
If another sprint is already active, close or complete the running sprint before starting a new one.
Best practices
- Keep sprint names easy to recognize.
- Start a sprint only after the team agrees on the planned tasks.
- Review incomplete work before closing the sprint.
Common mistakes
- Running multiple active sprints for the same team without a clear reason.
- Starting a sprint before the backlog is ready.
